Improve Your Glass Cutting

August 22, 2024 @ 5:30 pm 8:30 pm

This class will show you how to cut glass and/or improve your current glass cutting skills to help make this portion of your glass experience more relaxing and enjoyable.  It will teach what pressure to use when scoring glass, how to cut inside curves, to cut circles with and without a circle cutter and to find the most comfortable table height.  Students will work with window glass to practice scoring and breaking, and will also be shown how to use the Morton System, a light table and the basic grinder.  In this 3-hour class students will make a vase as shown, the project will be fused in LSGA kiln and available for pickup the next day.  The glass and stand for the vase are included in the class fee.

The class does not require previous stained or fused glass classes and is highly recommended if one is interested in taking one of Anna’s fused glass classes which will be offered in the fall.

This class will be held at the LSGA Studio at McNally Community Center, all tools and glass will be provided.  The class is $60 and limited to 6 students, with one instructor and one assistant.

The class dates are:

August 22 – 5:30PM to 8:30 PM Thursday

August 24 – 10AM to 1PM Saturday

If you are interested in taking this class, please email Pat at plmcneill53@gmail.com . Fees are due immediately.  Refunds are available up to one week before the class if cancellation is required.  Pat has given this class often at McNally, she has been doing stained glass for over 40 years and enjoys seeing students find easier and more fun ways to interact with glass.
