Fusing Fundamentals (Beginners) Class 1 of 3

October 2, 2024 @ 1:00 pm 4:00 pm

The Lethbridge Society of Glass Artisans is pleased to present the following class
at their studio in the McNally Community Center. The instructor, Anna Mather, is a member of LSGA, with 15 years of experience with introducing new fusers to glass arts.

Cost $225.00 (all supplies included)
Dates/Times: Wednesdays, October 2, 9, 16, 2024; 1 – 4 pm

In this 12 hour class you will acquire a basic understanding of fusing terminology and techniques; learn about glass families suitable for fusing; and explore the role that a kiln plays in glass art. At the end of the class, you will be prepared to request suitable firing schedules that achieve desired results for your art.
The projects selected for this class will allow the instructor to demonstrate the cleaning and layering of glass, the glues that work, making your own glass frit, and the tools used by fusers. In addition you will review safety in the studio.

Take Home: Poppy Plate 8” x 8”
Naturescape in Glass 6” x 10”
(Projects will be similar but not always exactly the same as photos)

The 3rd day of this class will be informal. It is an opportunity to pick up your finished projects, to explore topics of interest to your group, to learn a piece of equipment, or to discuss your first solo project.
Pre-Requisite: You will have either taken a Cutting and Grinding class at McNally or have the equivalent in practical experience. This will be discussed with the instructor as you register.

Details: Students who have not fused before will be considered first for spots in this class.
