DESCRIPTION:This course is project-based and is intended for people new to glass work. All the tools and equipment will be provided\, but each participant will need to purchase the materials kit ($30) required for their individual project. The objectives for this course are to:– Plan a stained glass project– Cut\, grind\, and fit glass pieces together to create a design– Foil and solder pieces together– Attach a hook to hang your piece \n\n\n\nDuring the class\, you will have enough time to make one stained glass panel of your choice (approximately 8×10″).  It is important that you choose a pattern and share your idea with Kathy as soon as possible.  It is recommended that you choose a pattern with no more than 15 pieces.  You can find patterns online by searching “free stained glass patterns” using Google.  Alternatively\, you can go to the library or pick up a stained glass magazine at Chapters.  Please email Kathy a copy of your pattern ASAP.  \n\n\n\nDATE & TIME\n\n\n\nFriday\, September 12th from 6-8:30pm as well as Saturday and Sunday (September 13th\, 14th) from 12-5pm both days. \n\n\n\nREGISTRATION & INSTRUCTOR INFORMATION\n\n\n\nThe course fee is $225\, as well as a $30 materials kit. \n\n\n\n\nWhat supplies will you need? \n\n\n\n\nMaterials kit from instructor ($30\, available to purchase from instructor at first class)\n\n\n\nA piece of cardstock (poster board)\n\n\n\nPencil\, pen\, paper\, glue stick\, a permanent Sharpie fine point marker\, and a ruler\n\n\n\nSafety glasses (these can also be borrowed from LSGA during class time\, should you prefer)\n\n\n\n\nFor the first class\, you will need to have 2 copies of your pattern in the size that you want your project to be.  You will complete a small project with pre-cut glass.  You must have all your supplies and be ready to start your project on Saturday\, so please allow enough time for supplies to arrive if you are ordering online. \n\n\n\n\nTo register\, please contact Kathy at kschw@rocketmail.com or by phone at 403.942.7636. Participants will learn how to wrap pre-cut glass shapes with lead came\, add decorative wire and solder them in to their chosen wooden frame. The class is open to anyone 14 years or over. No experience is required.Liz Allen\, an instructor and stained glass creator\, has over 40 years experience in stained and leaded glass art. \n\n\n\nDATE & TIME\n\n\n\nThursday\, July 17   or   Saturday\, July 19\, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. \n\n\n\nREGISTRATION & INSTRUCTOR INFORMATION\n\n\n\nAn Instructor Fee of $80 is required as well as an additional cost of $70 to $100 for the panel chosen on the day of class. DESCRIPTION:Pack a lunch and spend a day learning how to make quick and easy stained glass suncatchers using glass and lead came. Bring your Mother\, a Friend\, or Family Member….Have some fun! No previous experience required. \n\n\n\n\nLearn the pattern techniques for making suncatchers\n\n\n\nLearn the finishing touches which will bring your pieces to life\n\n\n\nLearn how you can safely hang or stand your works of art\n\n\n\nLearn how to handle lead came\n\n\n\nChoose from countless pattern kits\n\n\n\n\nMaterials will be supplied to make at least 4 Suncatchers each to take home. \n\n\n\nDATE/TIME\n\n\n\n\nThursday\, May 9th from 10am – 4pm  OR \n\n\n\nSaturday\, May 10th from 10am – 4pm OR\n\n\n\nSunday\, May 11th from 10am to 4pm\n\n\n\n\nLOCATION\n\n\n\nLethbridge Society of Glass Artisans Studio at McNally Community Center just past Evergreen Golf Course (see map on the Location page of this website). \n\n\n\nINSTRUCTOR & REGISTRATION INFORMATION\n\n\n\nWORKSHOP REGISTRATION FEES $80.00 per person. Purchase Suncatcher kits of your choice for $5.00 to $10.00 each \n\n\n\nREGISTRATION & INSTRUCTOR INFORMATION\n\n\n\nLiz Allen has over 40 years’ experience working with stained glass in both the lead and copper foil techniques.
